Progression on the Thylacine piece...
I've decided on wall paper and colours that were in vogue in the 1920's/30's to help 'date' the image.
I've used a gold stripe on the red which is lovely but doesn't seem as clear in this image.
Her dress is decorated with the twisted limbs of a white gum native to Tasmania

So, now we have the species, a time line and location for the detectives out there, hopefully when the painting is complete, the story will not need any words.

more to come soon ...

P.S not sure what to do for the floor, I'm thinking old floor boards with leaves around their feet or leaving it plain or ...
any ideas?

Hi Naomi,
Your artwork is absolutely beautiful. I love the way you mix Tasmanian flora and fauna with some of your portraits. Well done on your blog. Look forward to joining you down there on the Island soon.

Love the way this is developing - and I've always enjoyed the way in 30's wallpaper prints the paint squooged out from under the printing blocks and blobbed on the paper. Thought on the floor - a pattern of dead leaves? Seems the whole image is working with patterns, prints left behind. Whatever you do, I can't wait to see it!

Maybe a wee bit of perspective using lines that vanish behind her? But his is so well done, I'm not sure it really needs anything else. The blue ground makes the animals pop. It's splendid!!!!

Thanks - I like the idea of patterning the leaves!

Elizabeth - I agree completely about the line perspective, I was hoping maybe to achieve that with floor boards!? hmmm

THANKS!
