This week's prompt at Illustration Friday is launch
"You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment."
~ Henry David Thoreau
I love those words "...find your eternity in each moment"
In this painting I really wanted to capture that feeling of eternity by physically isolating the moment.
Literally, launching the moment out to a place where nothing and no-one can break in.
I've used 2 of my favourite artists, Van Gogh and Monet to make sure that it is a completely dream like location, impossible to be real anywhere but in your mind.
Unfortunately, due to my poor photography, it is hard to see that the boats are made of silver leaf and the image is a little darker and very textured.
Hope you have a great weekend,
naomi

wow- fantastic! Gorgeous color & great homage. I also find myself thinking of klimt, perhaps because of the woman & child
for me, this conjures up the story
of finding moses...

the moments with your baby are truly eternal... and they're so fleeting... my babies are now 13 and 15....
Oops forgot to mention Gustav!
Thanks Rachel, Moses would make a great narrative !
Yikes Claire, amazing how we still 'feel' those moments though.

Beautiful, Naomi. Serene and dreamlike. Will you be selling this as a card and print also?
Thank you michele, it's wonderful that you've stopped by :-)
Thanks emma, no I don't think she'll work. Too much texture and I don't think the silver leaf comes through very well :-(
Beautiful illustration and such a fitting quote! The moments with babies are both eternal yet so short lived.
